I consider this museum, which I discovered quite unexpectedly through the Lonely Planet guide, to be far more interesting than the İzmir Archaeology Museum. Located in a modern complex (İzmir Kültür Sanat Fabrikası), the museum is organised thematically and is a real treat for anyone who, like me, loves history and archaeology, while also including some more ethnographic sections. The parts I enjoyed the most are on the ground floor, especially the area on the left-hand side, featuring sculptures, sarcophagi and other pieces that are absolutely impressive. As far as museums go, this is by far the most essential one to visit in İzmir. I was genuinely impressed. I would strongly recommend allowing at least one and a half to two hours to explore everything at a relaxed pace.

Nice display of ancient pottery, old Turkish traditions, modern history, Hellenistic period statues and a sum of different arts developed in the millennia. Worth a visit if you’re a museum kind of like person, at the moment entrance fee was about 500 (but tomorrow could be 1000 cause inflation so check lol) , it includes also a paint exibithion showed in a near by pavilion.

Very large complex with many museums inside in addition of a library. Archaeological museum is fantastic. Highly recommended. The entrance is from the main street to whole complex. You can use müzekart if you are a resident of Türkiye. Inside there is a café as well and the park is nice to roam around. It was quite on Saturday morning.

Self service museum! Even the museum shop is a vending machine 👍 tickets are 20TL per adult, children free. Nice experience, lost of art and history. Great exhibition displayed on two floors. Abit dark at times. Toilets available on the ground floor.

Good museum, consisted of three parts. When I went there is was empty, only me moving from here and there. I started to feel that all museums are almost the same content, nothing makes this museum so different or nothing adds to my experience, almost the same of archeology museum. I think you need to rethink about "specialising" museums. And work harder on the visitors experience. For sure the displays and statues are magnificent. If you are too much into history and archeology you must visit it.
