St Mary's Cathedral stands as a magnificent landmark of spiritual and architectural significance right in the heart of Sydney. Its grand Gothic Revival design, with towering twin spires and beautiful local sandstone, makes a powerful impression against the city skyline opposite Hyde Park. Stepping inside, you are greeted by a sense of profound peace, with soaring ceilings and breathtaking stained glass windows that bathe the interior in coloured light. It’s a tranquil haven offering a moment for quiet reflection away from the urban bustle. Tip: Be sure to visit the crypt to see its stunning and intricately detailed mosaic floor—it's a true hidden gem.

Lexie at the gift shop was so friendly and tremendously helpful, with the tour and all of my purchases. And the tour was definitely worth going. The crypt floor slayed hard😍 absolutely breathtaking, the intricate details and the colours are just exquisite 👌 ✨️ not to mention the gothic architecture on top of it, and the rich history hidden in every corner. Also super lucky the archbishop was leading the 1030 mass. St Mary's should be on your itinerary, like say less, and go, right now! 🥳

St. Mary's Cathedral is among the largest and most beautiful cathedrals I have worshipped in during my life. It reminds me alot of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. We got in the last half of Vespers before the evening mass on Sunday. The singing was excellent. Fr. Baldwin made us feel welcome, spending time after the service to talk with us and give a blessing. Thank you.

A fabulous piece of Gothic architecture located in the heart of Sydney on the route for the Big Bus tour. Make sure you hop off here and spend sometime in the serene and peaceful area in front of the altar. The architecture inside is as gorgeous as on the outside. The decorum is maintained inside even though there are many tourists who visit.

St Mary’s Cathedral is truly beautiful and one of those places that instantly makes you slow down. The architecture is stunning—grand, elegant, and very peaceful—right in the middle of the city. Walking inside feels calm and grounding, a nice contrast to the busy streets outside. The interior is spacious, filled with light, high ceilings, beautiful stained-glass windows, and a very serene atmosphere. You don’t have to be religious to appreciate it; it’s a place you enjoy for its beauty, history, and quiet energy. It’s also very well maintained and welcoming. Go mid-morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer people. Combine the visit with a walk through Hyde Park, which is right next to it and perfect before or after your visit. It’s an easy stop, centrally located, and doesn’t require much time, but it leaves a lasting impression. Elegant, peaceful, and quietly powerful. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Sydney.
